Ha Giang Prov., Quan Ba Distr., Cao Ma Po Commune, Then Van 1 Village, Binh Mountain, around point 23.09452ºN 104.84831ºE, steep rocky slopes composed with highly eroded limestone at elevation 1400–1600 m a.s.l. Remnants of primary evergreen broad-leaved very humid forest with plantation of “wild-grown” Amomum. Herbaceous vine to 3 m long in open place. Flowers light pink, anther yellow. Occasional. 4 October 2019, L. Averyanov, Nguyen Sinh Khang, T. Maisak, VR 1249 (holotype – LE 01066829, isotype – HN).

New variety differs from the type inbroadly lanceolate leaves much longer than broad and cuneate leaf base (vs.leaves broadly ovate to circular, almost as long as broad, with deeply cordatebase).
