Northern Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Van Ban Distr., to the west of Nam Xay village (1 km to the W of point 21ш59'00''N, 104ш02'00''E). Primary broad-leaved evergreen mountain forest with Fokienia (as emergent) on granite and quartzite very steep slopes at elev. 1600 m a.s.l. Terrestrial sedge on very steep slope of wet stream canyon. Not rare.
